Cupola Recommendations

Before you order a cupola, please review our articles (links are on the right side of the page under IMPORTANT LINKS..) on cupola history, selection and installation. Always follow these simple rules for cupolas:

• Your cupola should have at least 1 inch of roof for every foot for the longest roof line of your structure. So an 18 inch cupola is appropriate for an 18 foot shed, a 24 inch cupola is appropriate for a 24 foot garage and a 36 inch cupola is appropriate for a 36 foot home. Always go up one size in your cupola when the structure is between standard sizes. A 30 foot home should have a 36 inch cupola not a 24 inch model. An oversized cupola always looks grand, an undersized one looks funny.
• Your cupola roof slope should be equal to or higher than the existing structure. Buildings with steeper roof slopes should be installed with high roof steeple cupola models.
• A functional cupola versus an ornamental one is a matter of personal preference. The functional one is of benefit in sheds and barns where natural venting helps keep the structure cooler.
